Trump’s Warning Shot: No More Mr. Nice Guy After Dem Runs Back to His Party Despite ‘Life Saving’ Pardon

The President should remember that Cuellar might have one-issue sanity when it comes to open border policies, but he’s never been a Trump supporter or even America First. He is very much part of that radical left machine.

Hilarious: X Bodies the EU With the Perfect Response to Their Fine

As we reported, the Trump administration has slammed the fine and the effort to go after “American tech platforms and the American people.” The days of censorship against Americans are over, Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned the EU.

Teen Provides Alabama Gang Members With a ‘Teachable Moment’ About Violating State Gun Laws

The Attorney General calls the Alabama Criminal Enterprise Act one of the strongest tools in the nation to cut down on violent crime, and it very well could be. I’m just concerned that it might also be deployed as a tool to allow prosecutors to swiftly resolve cases via a plea bargain that may or may not be in the best interests of justice or public safety.

Despite all the criticism, Tom Homan is doing the work, and in doing so is saving the children.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

There’s only one meeting set for Monday as the critters return from the weekend:

  • Senate  Commerce, Science, and Transportation — Business meeting to consider the nominations of John DeLeeuw, of Texas, and Michael Graham, of Virginia, both to be a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board, Steven Haines, of Virginia, to be an Assistant Secretary of Commerce,  Robert Harvey, of Florida, to be a Federal Maritime Commissioner, Jared Isaacman, of Pennsylvania, to be Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Richard Kloster, of West Virginia, to be a Member of the Surface Transportation Board, Admiral Kevin Lunday to be Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, and Ryan McCormack, of Virginia, to be Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy.

There’s one vote scheduled in the Senate on Monday, as well: the motion to invoke cloture on Robert P. Chamberlin to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Mississippi.

The House will get back to it on Tuesday.

White House What’s Up

President Trump is set to participate in a roundtable in the Cabinet Room on Monday at 2:00 PM Eastern. On Tuesday, he’ll deliver remarks in Mount Pocano, Pennsylvania.

Full Court Press…

There are a couple of appellate court decisions to note:

  • ✅ Harris v. Bessent/Wilcox v. Trump (removal of independent agency leaders) — D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals reverses district court judgments.
  • ❌ State of Washington v. Dept. of Education (denial of federal grants) — 9th Circuit Court of Appeals DENIES admin’s request for administrative stay. [Tuesday ruling — missed it earlier.]

And the Supreme Court hears oral argument Monday in a key case about those independent agency leaders:

  • Trump v. Slaughter — The parties were asked to address the following two questions:
    • Whether the statutory removal protections for members of the Federal Trade Commission violate the separation of powers and, if so, whether Humphrey’s Executor v. United States, 295 U. S. 602 (1935), should be overruled.
    • Whether a federal court may prevent a person’s removal from public office, either through relief at equity or at law.

MORNING MUSING

If “cringe” had been a thing back in the ’80s, it would have aptly been applied to the Genesis song Illegal Alien. Political correctness wasn’t yet formally a thing, though it was on the horizon, and yes, Illegal Alien would have landed squarely in the “incorrect” crosshairs.

But I was a high school sophomore when the song was released, and, rather than considering the political and philosophical implications of it, simply recognized it as a somewhat catchy tune — so much so that my then-bff and I changed up the wording just to be silly. For some reason, we found it hilarious to sing, “It’s no fun….being a McChicken on a bun…”

Yeah. I never claimed it was highbrow. But cringe or inappropriate though it may have been, the song crept back into my consciousness recently and prompted some additional reflection:

Consideration for your fellow man

Would not hurt anybody, it sure fits in with my plan

Over the border, there lies the promised land

Where everything comes easy, and you just hold out your hand

I’m not impervious to the heartstring tug of people seeking to improve their lot in life by emigrating — that’s how most of our ancestors got here after all. But there has to be an appropriate process in place — not just a free-for-all. And I keep coming back to this idea: I would never in a million years think it appropriate for me to emigrate to another country without being prepared to follow their rules for doing so.

Why is it supposed to be any different for those coming to the U.S.?
