A sick paedophile appeared back in court after being sentenced to further offences of filming himself raping young girls. Melvin Miller, recently of Somerset, was handed a lengthy prison term in 2020 after sexually assaulting two girls. Two years after his initial sentencing, the serial offender pleaded guilty to additional offences after one his victims made further claims against him. This led to the police discovering Miller was in possession of more than a quarter of a million indecent images of children.
The paedophile also filmed himself raping a girl for eight minutes. The 50-year-old has now appeared back in Liverpool Crown Court this week to be sentenced to more offences. This included five counts of historic rape against a girl under the age of 13, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Merseyside Police Detective Sergeant Emma O’Toole said on Thursday (December 18): “Miller was already serving a 16-year prison sentence in 2020 after pleading guilty to 30 offences against two girls.
“He subsequently admitted further offences in 2022 and was handed a further 15-year sentence to be served concurrently. Following a lengthy investigation Miller was charged with further offences to which he pleaded guilty and today he was given a further 11 years in prison to be served concurrently.”
Miller’s additional sentences will be served at the same time, but the length of time that he will become eligible for parole has increased.
The rapist’s initial offences emerged when two of the young female victims told a friend, who then informed a schoolteacher who told the local police.
Upon his arrest, Miller denied any wrongdoing and claimed the authorities would not find anything illegal on his computer.
On the contrary, police found a large collection of sickening images, with the hard drive containing footage of Miller raping and sexually abusing both of the girls – 6,000 category A files were found.
The offender admitted 30 sex attacks and five counts of making or possessing indecent images. The charges included 16 counts of rape of a child under 13, 12 counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, one count of assault by penetration, and one offence of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Miller later pleaded guilty to three additional counts of rape, two of attempted rape and one of making an indecent video of a child.
