JD Vance Dominates 2028 Presidential Poll – RedState

The 2028 presidential election is a long way off; we have scarcely begun warming up for next year’s midterms. But pollsters are gonna poll, and the latest such is the Turning Point America Fest straw poll, which yielded a number of results, none of which should be surprising to anyone who hasn’t been living in a cabin in the wilds of Canada’s Northwest Territories for the last ten years.

One of the least surprising results, especially when you consider that this is a pretty pro-Trump audience, is that Vice President JD Vance is the overwhelming top choice to be the 2028 Republican presidential nominee

It’s tempting at this juncture to add, “Well, duh.” This was anything but a shocker. Vice President Vance swept the field, with over 84 percent of the vote; the runner-up was Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who came in at under five percent. And, while it’s a long way to Tipperary, at this juncture, if I had to bet, I’d bet on JD Vance being the eventual nominee. Of course, a lot can happen in almost three years, which makes polling at this point little more than a curiosity.

Speaking of curious, let’s look at some more results.

Views in Israel also weren’t terribly surprising, with a majority seeing Israel as an ally, with a third seeing Israel as our most important ally; 13 percent don’t see Israel as an ally at all. That’s a much more Israel-friendly result than you’re likely to see from any similar straw poll of Democrats.

An immigration moratorium, though, came in with a mildly surprising result, with almost 90 percent in favor of closing our borders to everyone, to legal and illegal immigration.

But here’s one that’s unlikely to change between now and 2028, partly because it’s so staggeringly obvious; when respondents were asked about threats to America, the top issue was radical Islam, with socialism/Marxism and mass “migrations” coming in second and third.

It’s an encouraging result, as it’s radical Islam, more than anything else, that represents an existential threat, not just to America, but to Western civilization.

Bear in mind that we’re still 11 months from the 2026 midterms, making this exercise little more than a curiosity, as I’ve already noted. What’s more, it’s a sample of, not just Republicans, not just conservatives, but conservative activists; nothing wrong with that, but one can’t really extrapolate these results to the general American population, or even just the entire Republican party.

But on the top threats facing America, it’s good that this crowd sees that radical Islam is our primary threat; that should be painfully clear to anyone who has more IQ points than teeth. Not that China isn’t a problem, as well; they are at least a rival, if not (yet) an enemy. And then there’s North Korea, Iran…

We live in interesting times.

This poll’s a curiosity, and not much more than that. But 2026 is only a little over a week away. The pollsters are sharpening their pencils as we speak. Stay tuned.
