King Charles is reportedly very generous when it comes to his members of staff during the Christmas period. The 77-year-old is said to enjoy bringing his family together to celebrate the festivities at the Sandringham estate – but he also makes sure not to forget his array of staff who help him out throughout the year.
According to a source, the King is extremely kind to them during the festive period. They said: “He used to give a dinner service, matching plates, side plates and so on, but he would give bits of it at a time, so you would get the full collection if you stayed in service long enough”. His idea of gift-giving is known to be different to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who gifted her staff members a Christmas pudding to enjoy at home every year.
Although he has a separate gift, the King also likes to hand out a Christmas pudding to his staff as a bonus treat for their hard work.
To get in the festive spirit, staff of The Royal Household tend to celebrate at St James’ Palace.
This includes staff from a number of royal residences, including King Charles’ Highgrove estate.
Previously speaking exclusively to Heart Bingo, former royal gardener Jack Stooks said that the King also used to hand out Christmas cards to his staff.
He said: “For the first few years that I worked at Highgrove, we also got a Christmas pudding from the King.
“When the King got around to doing his Christmas cards, we all got a hand-signed Christmas card as well from himself and Camilla.”
The King and Queen have just celebrated another Christmas at the Sandringham estate alongside their family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children.
