A cloud of lies, generated largely by Democratic Party politicians, has enveloped the efforts of ICE to enforce federal law in Minnesota. One claim that Democrats have made repeatedly is that ICE agents are not detaining dangerous criminals, but rather are merely harassing our “neighbors.” This short clip from yesterday’s American Experiment podcast, which I expect will be seen a couple million times on social media, takes on that myth:
Another false claim is that Renee Good, who drove her vehicle directly at ICE agent Jonathan Ross, was merely trying to drive away and would not have hit him. That claim is belied by the fact that Good actually did run into Ross; it is also belied by the bullet hole in her vehicle’s windshield. ICE has confirmed that Ross was injured in the attack:
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fatally shot Renee Good last week in Minneapolis, Jonathan Ross, suffered internal bleeding to the torso following the incident, according to two U.S. officials briefed on his medical condition.
***
Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, previously acknowledged that Ross was taken to the hospital after the shooting and was released the same day.
There will of course be an investigation into the Good shooting, but it is not a close call. Ross’s shooting of Good will be found to be justified. That is the case regardless of who performs the investigation, federal or state authorities.
Agent Ross has received death threats, as you would expect, but has also gotten considerable support. I donated to this GoFundMe, which has raised over $700,000 on Ross’s behalf. I note that one of the early substantial donors was Bill Ackman, who contributed $10,000.
It isn’t easy to stem the tide of misinformation that the Left is producing about ICE’s efforts in Minnesota, but we do what we can.
