Prince Harry quit royal life in 2020, leaving behind everything he had ever known. While the decision no doubt caused a lot of uncertainty for the Duke of Sussex, it soon opened the doors to a new normal for him.
While there have been rumours that Harry has not been content with the Californian lifestyle and misses UK life, a source has now disputed this and claimed the duke is more than happy with his new lifestyle.
“Even though he was raised [as a royal], he was never comfortable in that environment. He feels more like himself here.”
Talking about the constraints royal life had on Harry, the source said: “He had this crazy schedule (in the UK) and would come back through the palace gates and couldn’t go out or have a personal life.”
Speaking at an event in 2024, Harry said: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here. It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.
“I feel as though it’s the life that my mum wanted for me. To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK — it’s huge.
“That is a fantastic opportunity and I’m hugely grateful for that.”
Harry and Meghan have shown no ambition to return to the UK full-time. Instead, Harry makes occasional visits across the pond to his home country, which he is set to continue doing.
