Mistakes are rarely seen on the Royal Family’s social media channels, but on January 16, a slip-up was made on the official channel for King Charles’s X account. A new message from the monarch appeared to be shared in the wrong order.
The Royal Family’s X account shared a statement to commemorate the first anniversary of the 100 Year Partnership between Britain and Ukraine. The message from King Charles was shared over two slides, but uploaded in the wrong order.
Therefore, the second half of the King’s message was shared first, which confused online readers and royal fans. Read in the correct order, the message said: “As we celebrate the first anniversary of the 100-Year Partnership between the United Kingdom and Ukraine, I do pray that the flourishing bonds between our two countries may bring some hope and moral support at this most difficult time.”
The statement continued: “Ukraine’s most valiant strength in the face of such appalling hardship and pain is an extraordinary example to the world, and I am constantly impressed by the sheer bravery, courage and resilience shown by the Ukrainian people,” the King’s message began, per Lammy’s remarks.
“As we also look ahead to the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of your beloved country – a time of great anguish, I know, for many families across Ukraine and the world – my wife [Queen Camilla] and I continue to keep you all in our heartfelt thoughts and prayers,” it continued, citing the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began in February 2022.
“I wish, above all, to convey my profound hope that Ukraine can achieve a just and lasting peace that safeguards its security, sovereignty and prosperity, in a way that Ukrainians deserve. We stand with you.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited King Charles three times in 2025, most recently visiting him at Windsor Castle in October.
In the first upload of the post, the Palace wrote “this week” when talking about The Duchess of Edinburgh’s time in Peru, which was actually the previous week – it was soon corrected.
When noted, the team quickly fixed the error and uploaded the new post, removing the comment of when the engagements were held.
