We are witness to the battle of the Twin Cities. On one side is federal law enforcement. We support federal law enforcement. On the other side are state and local authorities, the Star Tribune, an organized resistance, and probably the weight of popular opinion in the metropolitican Twin Cities. The climate of popular opinion is suffocating, at least for those of us who support the efforts of federal law enforcement.
To understand the organized resistance, I recommend the Washington Free Beacon stories “Who Funds the Groups Harassing ICE Agents in Minnesota? The Left’s Premier Foundations and Dark Money Networks Have Given Millions, Records Show” (by Jessica Costescu and Chuck Ross) and “As Tim Walz Encourages Resistance, Minnesota ‘ICE Watch’ Declares ‘Time Is Ripe To Embrace Militancy’” (“MN ICE Watch posts guide encouraging escalation ‘by any means necessary’”) (by Costescu).
Hot Air’s John Sexton takes a current look at the local scene in “Activists Ramp Up the Chaos in Minneapolis.” It’s not a good look. It’s a sort of neo-Confederate scene that used to go under the moniker of “massive resistance.”
Tomorrow is big day. It brings us “ICE out of Minnesota” day. The Minnesota Reformer’s Michelle Griffith provides a backgrounder telling readers what they “need to know” to participate. Griffith followed up with the explanation “Friday’s ‘ICE Out of Minnesota’ day is a general strike. Here’s what that means.” According to Griffith, it means a strike supported by Minnesota’s unions, progressive faith leaders, Democratic lawmakers and community activists — i.e., by the left.
Proponents encourage Minnesotans to stay home from work, school and refrain from shopping to protest the presence of federal immigration agents in Minnesota. In the words of the dictatorial Governor Time Walz when he ruled by decree: “StayHomeMN.” Demonstrators will march and rally in downtown Minneapolis Friday starting at 2:00 p.m. Local residents would be well advised to avoid the downtown area.
