Minnesota Fifth District Rep. Ilhan Omar was sprayed with an unknown substance by a nut with a syringe at a town hall meeting in Minneapolis last night. Security guards subdued and apprehended her attacker, who was booked into the Hennepin County Jail. I’m glad she was unhurt. I especially loathe violence against politicians and pubic officers.
However, I intend to keep spraying Omar with the truth. The truth leaves her similarly untouched. It doesn’t hurt her one bit, but it may catch up with her. It’s possible.
I have one thing in common with Omar. We both think she’s untouchable. I hope that we’re both wrong. With her belief in her invincibility, she may bring herself down one of these days.
The current chaos in the Twin Cities has smothered the story of the massive public-progams fraud committted by Minnesota’s Somali community. Indeed, the current chaos seems calculted to do just that, but that’s not quite right. It’s all about illegal immigration, of which Omar herself is a prominent beneficiary. When it comes to Somali fraud, I say Ilhan Omar is Exhibit A.
As I mentioned over this past weekend, long-time Imprimis editor Doug Jeffrey invited me to write the January issue for readers who are only vaguely aware of the fraud story. In my world Doug is a legendary editor. I was grateful for the opportunity to write for Imprimis and for him.
My essay has just been posted under the title “Learning From Minnesota’s Somali Fraud Scandal.” Limited to 3,000 words, I couldn’t do justice to each aspect of the story, but I tried to cover it from soup to nuts. I get to Omar at the end of the column.
I was able to dig a little more deeply into the political component of the story in the Washington Examiner column “Exit Tim Walz, stage Biden.” Power Line readers don’t need my introduction to the fraud story, but I hope some readers may find it of interest or of use as a reminder, if nothing else.
I took up the story of Omar’s most egregious caper in the Washington Free Beacon column “Yes, Ilhan Omar married her brother.” She also appears in my Free Beacon column “From Feeding the Kids to Fleecing the Government: Inside the Country’s Largest COVID Fraud.”
In her prepared remarks at the town hall last night, Omar was calling for the abolition of ICE. Omar was the first politician I ever heard calling for the abolition of ICE, which she did at the special DFL endorsing convention that served her up on Father’s Day (June 17), 2018. On the second ballot the delegates selected her to be the DFL candidate to succeed Keith Ellison in Congress. I was there. Fifth District Democrats accredited me to cover the convention. Like slavery in the Confederacy, the aboltion of ICE — i.e., illegal immigration — has now become the cornerstone of the Democratic Party.
