Priceless Moments in Gripping Behind the Scenes Look at a Return to the White House – RedState

I’m going to channel my inner Captain Obvious and call it like I see it: if you’re a fan of the Trump family and the president’s vision for America, you’re going to love the First Lady’s eponymously titled film, Melania, which opens nationwide Friday and is distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.

I attended a screening Thursday evening in the Century City area of Los Angeles (she gave us a shout-out on the livestream from the Trump-Kennedy Center screening going on simultaneously), and I can tell you that if you’re on the fence about the president and his wife, you might find yourself liking the duo more than you did previously, but if you’re a TDS-riddled hater, you’re going to want to burn the theater down.

After all, violent reaction to anything they don’t like seems to be the leftist playbook these days.

Short version: For me, the movie started slow and I wasn’t sure that it was a winner, but as time went on I became further and further pulled in, and especially in the third section of the film, I was gripped by the behind the scenes look at what it’s really like to be at the center of the pinnacles of power. Melania is obviously incredibly beautiful, but the more we got to know her during the 104-minute feature, the more human and likable she became.

It was her movie, and she shone, but some of my favorite moments featured Donald and their son, Barron. At one point, when someone is detailing a long list of things the president has to do during that day, he quipped (paraphrasing, because there was no recording allowed), “And then I Make America Great Again?”

Barron, meanwhile, maintained a pretty stoic, unreadable visage during his few moments in the movie, but when he unexpectedly grinned and put his finger to his ear for more applause during an inauguration day event, both the crowd in the arena at the time and the audience watching the screening tonight cheered. He’s definitely got stage presence and a mischievous smile that lights up the room.

Melania, meanwhile, had many of her own moments, like when she engaged in car karaoke singing Michael Jackson while being driven around in a massive motorcade, or when she started spontaneously doing the president’s favorite YMCA dance. Even Donald was surprised.

She, too, when she really lets that smile fly, has amazing presence.

My favorite moments of all were when the Trumps came to the White House to bid goodbye to the Bidens. The awkwardness was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Ole Joe, meanwhile, looked utterly lost in space, like he didn’t even know what was going on.

As you watched Donald Trump clearly and forcefully taking over command of the country, it was even more incredible to realize that the husk of a man he was bidding farewell to had allegedly been in charge of such a massive operation.

Biden seemed barely able to walk to the helicopter.

And that, to me, was the highlight of the production. As the orchestra flared, Joe and Jill were thankfully whisked away by Nighthawk 46, the U.S. Marine Corps helicopter used for former presidents and vice presidents during departure ceremonies. Unlike our leftist friends, I don’t wish ill on the man — but it was a tears-welling-up-in-the-eye moment to see him removed from the seat of power and rendered unable to continue his assault on America’s greatness.

Another thing that really struck me was the sheer power of the presidency — the thousands of operatives, aides, assistants, military personnel, security agents, and White House staff that all make things run behind the scenes like a well-oiled machine. The First Lady couldn’t even leave Trump Tower to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral and pay honor to her late mother without an armada of black SUVs, armed agents, and gawking crowds. It’s a life that few of us can imagine.

Was it Top Gun: Maverick? No. I wasn’t jumping out of my seat at every moment, worried about who was going to get blown up next. What it is, however, is a fascinating look behind the scenes in the corridors of power — something that for a political junkie like me was ambrosia.

There’s another reason to see it, however, even if it doesn’t sound like your type of flick. I have no skin in the game, meaning I won’t make a dime if you buy one ticket or a hundred. What I will get, however, if the box office numbers are solid, is the satisfaction of knowing that Americans are sticking it to the progressive naysayers who are dogging this movie with everything they can, saying that crewmembers are embarrassed to be part of the production, and that it’s going to bomb, and even doing their best to make sure it does.

The hate is off the charts:

Wouldn’t it be funny if Americans said, screw you, elitist leftist critics, we don’t need you to tell us what we like? This is good stuff, and we don’t need your permission.

In the meantime, it’s just good to know that after the shrillness of Hillary Clinton, the endless self-pity of Michelle Obama, and the shadow presidency of Jill Biden, we finally have a First Lady with class — and some serious style — back in the White House.

Editor’s Note: Donald and Melania Trump are leading America into the “Golden Age” as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
