Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise has apparently abandoned his £38 million British residence, expressing worries about security in the upmarket neighbourhood.
The lavish flat sits in London’s Knightsbridge area, close to where a motorcycle gang recently raided a Rolex boutique near Tom’s property.
The thieves brandished machetes to ward off security personnel after they charged into the shop on their motorbikes, with the incident raising serious security questions for the Mission Impossible icon.
The performer, 63, reportedly believes that the locality has “declined” recently, leading to his choice to relocate.
The Bucherer Rolex Boutique was targeted by perpetrators wielding a large sledgehammer, two compact claw hammers, and a centre point implement specifically designed for smashing reinforced glass to force entry.
The brazen daytime robbery resulted in approximately 20 timepieces being stolen, with the whole episode concluding within just three minutes before the offenders escaped on their motorcycles.
A source familiar with the Mission Impossible star revealed to Daily Mail, “The over aggressive attack on the store below cemented the lack of security surrounding the multi-million pound flats where Cruise lives.
“He often loved to take a walk around the area but it seems like Knightsbridge is becoming less safe by the week. He just felt the area has declined in the past year or two.”
Cruise was recognised for his dawn runs through Hyde Park, ideally situated directly opposite his exclusive apartment building. Staff members were reportedly seen removing boxes filled with Tom’s possessions from the property following his sudden departure.
A source disclosed: “Tom loved London. He loved where he lived, he would get up and go for run around Hyde Park in the mornings.
“He loved walking in the local area but he also really, really enjoyed jumping in a helicopter at Battersea Heliport and flying off into the quintessentially British countryside.
“It all happened very quickly, it was a surprise to the staff at the building where his penthouse is.”
The insider continued: “It’s most strange.
“The UK became both his professional headquarters and private playground, with discrete dates, tightly-guarded movements and late-night arrivals. England became far more than just a filming base.”
The affluent Knightsbridge and Belgravia district has faced ongoing issues with moped gangs for several years, with criminals preying on wealthy locals and visitors.
Metropolitan Police figures show 295 crimes were recorded in Knightsbridge and Belgravia throughout November 2025, with roughly one-third occurring close to the iconic Harrods department store.
Other shops in the area have similarly fallen victim to ram raids and theft incidents.
In a separate incident last year, 24 year old Blue Stevens was fatally knifed near the upmarket Park Tower Knightsbridge hotel, with his killer still on the run.
His mother has slammed London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, for “celebrating” London’s declining homicide statistics while her “beautiful boy lies in his grave.”
