Whodunnit

In this morning’s Wall Street Journal Free Expression newsleter — I received it at 5:56 a.m. — editor Matthew Hennessey takes a look at the Minnesota scene under the heading “Minnesota Madness” (“There’s a wildfire burning in Minnesota, and it’s 0% contained”). He writes: “We still don’t know the names of the guys who pumped Alex Pretti full of lead. That’s a bad sign” (emphasis in original).

Hennessey to the contrary notwithstanding, we do know: “The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.”

The linked story reporting the names of the agents was posted yesterday afternoon. Hennessey must have written and scheduled today’s newsletter to go out by then. It’s not clear why he didn’t catch the story and revise his newsletter. It’s also not clear what he had in mind with respect to the significance of the names, but there we have them.
