Police, paramedics and firefighters have rushed to the site of a plane crash in a small commuter town. The aircraft crashed in Littleborough, a town less than a 40-minute drive from Manchester. The incident, believed to have happened near to Hollingworth Lake and Blackstone Edge, triggered a major emergency response. Greater Manchester Police issued a first statement following the crash of a plane, believed to be a light aircraft carrying two people.
It read, as reported by the MEN: “Emergency services are responding to reports of a light aircraft crash in the Littleborough area. We are currently in attendance to establish the full circumstances and assess any casualties. A scene is in place whilst emergency service workers conduct their enquiries and people are asked to avoid the area as this work is carried out.”
As the emergency services response is ongoing, an image is being shared on social media appearing to show aparachute caught nearby pylon.
