One of the best parts of Trump 2.0 has been watching Democrats flop around like a barrel of fish. They just can’t help themselves. They are so consumed by their anger at the fact that Donald Trump won so decisively in November that they are literally going out of what’s left of their minds. They are constantly rebranding and reinventing themselves. They can’t be authentic because they would never win another election.
It’s a comical situation of their own making we are getting to witness. But now, Democrats believe they have found the secret to success in 2026. Hint: the comedy rolls merrily along.

On Wednesday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) rolled out its new secret weapon. It’s a voter outreach program called “Local Listeners.” The idea is to target Democratic voters who sat out the 2024 election. They are also focusing on what they believe are roughly one million voters who they see as likely Democratic voters in congressional districts they view as priorities, voters who voted in 2020 then did not vote in 2024.
The DNC is hoping for a double-pronged approach, a “listening first approach,” but also concentrating on training volunteers to go find low-propensity Democratic voters with a seven-week training course. Some of the topics of the course will include “active listening” and “having difficult conversations about politics.”
DNC Chair Ken Martin sounds like a guy who is pretty sure he just invented the wheel, saying:
“Local Listeners is a massive voter contact operation built on a simple but powerful idea: If we want to keep earning back the trust and support of voters, we have to listen to them. This program modernizes the way we are talking to and hearing from the voters that we need to win elections now and for years to come. The Democratic Party is done with waiting until the last minute to engage voters — these conversations need to happen early and often. And the win-win with this program is that we’re also training thousands of volunteers to be voices for our Party on the frontlines of their communities.”
Yeah…that’s it…we’ll listen to the voters. But like his fellow Democratic travelers, Martin couldn’t resist some classic Democrat talking points:
“While Republicans ignore Americans, preferring to serve billionaires instead of everybody else, Democrats aim to reach over a million voters in the next few months. And we’re going to talk about what matters in their lives: affordability, freedom, a shot at the American Dream. That’s how we win in 2026 and beyond.”
So far, around 2,000 volunteers have signed up for the program. But here is where DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider provided the comedy relief. She stated that the new program was all part of a period of “self-reflection” on behalf of the Democrat Party after 2024. Wait, what? Oh yes, Schneider stated, no doubt with a straight face:
“The work started immediately after we lost, and it was sort of a self-reflection of … what can we do differently and what is within our control? This is one of those things that it’s a no-brainer that it should live with the DNC, and that we should have been doing it for a lot longer.”
But there is just one problem for Martin and Schneider. The DNC foot soldiers might be going through the motions of “listening” to voters. But Democrat politicians, who may be keeping their plans close to the vest in terms of whether there would be another impeachment of President Trump, have mentioned several of his cabinet members, including Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, as possible impeachment targets. Kind of hard to see where impeachment of Trump Cabinet members answers Americans’ questions about affordability.

Add this latest reinvention to last August’s list of words that my colleague Sister Toldjah reported, which a center-left think tank, Third Way, sent to Democrats informing them that no normal people use like “birthing people,” “microaggression,” and “systems of oppression.” Leave it to Democrats to think that listening and communicating normally with regular Americans in words and phrases they can understand is edgy.
