One of the concerns about the military action against Iran is whether it would put the transport of oil in danger regarding things like traversing the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20 percent of the global energy supply moves. The Trump administration had the national average gas price down below $3.00 a gallon, but due to those concerns gas prices rose last week. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright hit the Sunday shows to reassure people that the spike would be temporary.

Here’s what he said to Fox’s Shannon Bream:
.@SecretaryWright: “The plan is to get oil, and natural gas, and fertilizer, and all of the products from the Gulf flowing through the straits… One large tanker has already gone through the straits with no issues at all… energy will flow soon.” pic.twitter.com/wtvJNyJM2f

The plan is to get oil and natural gas and fertilizer and all the products from the Gulf flowing through the straits before too long. We’re massively attriting their ability to strike with missiles and drones, and that rate of attrition will increase in the coming days. So we’ll be cautious, we’ll be careful, but energy will flow soon.”
He reminded people that Iran had threatened energy markets and neighboring countries for 47 years, and the Trump administration was going to end that.
Wright said they’d already gotten one tanker through, so that was a good signal that they would have more.
As Wright noted, former President Joe Biden’s policies drove up the price of everything—electricity, natural gas, heating, diesel, jet fuel — and said the Trump administration is fully focused on bringing those energy prices down again. He explained to CNN’s Jake Tapper that prices were still $1.50 cheaper than under the middle of the Biden administration.

He said he thought in the “worst case” it was a “weeks” thing, not a “months” thing, and we would be in a much better place with the attrition of Iran. “It’s finally going to come to an end,” Wright declared.
Previous administrations have begged, bartered, and bribed the Iranian government and it hasn’t worked.

Wright told “Face the Nation” that for far too long, previous administrations (looking at you, Barack Obama and your “pallets of cash”) had “begged, bartered, and bribed the Iranian government, and it hasn’t worked.
As we reported, Democrats still aren’t getting Iran correct because they’re seeing everything through the lens of their Trump hate. If they were previously for doing something about Iran, they’re now against it because Trump is finally doing something. You even had people like Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) getting caught in a trap by Bill Maher on his stance about the action.

Energy and “Drill, baby, drill” have been hallmarks of the Trump approach, so I think they’re going to be very concentrated on bringing things down for the future.
Editor’s Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
