As we previously reported, CNN has not exactly covered itself in glory with its so-called reporting on the disturbing attack Saturday near Gracie Mansion in New York City, where two suspects were taken into custody after allegedly trying to commit what DOJ Attorney General Pam Bondi called an “ISIS-inspired attack of terrorism” – complete with IEDs – against those protesting Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
First was the struggling “news” network’s insane description of the alleged domestic terrorists, Muslim adult teenagers Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi.
“According to CNN, the two were just normal American teenagers who decided to take a Saturday jaunt into the city during a break in a long, cold winter, then happened upon an anti-Muslim protest where homemade bombs materialized and were thrown into the crowd – and those poor boys were arrested for it!” RedState Managing Editor Jen Van Laar observed.
Though CNN deleted the tweet and yada yadaed about a “breaching of editorial standards,” the damage was done.
Making matters worse, as we also documented, was CNN NewsNight host Abby Phillip falsely claiming on her program Tuesday night that the incident was “an attempted terror attack against New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani.” On Wednesday morning, Phillip attempted to correct her supposedly innocent “error,” but again, it wasn’t good enough, especially considering CNN’s initial story on what happened.
Not surprisingly, there has been yet another display of journalistic malfeasance from CNN on this topic, this time coming from senior reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere, who wrote the below message on Wednesday afternoon in response to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) going along with the CNN-inspired narrative about who the attacks targeted (of note: the suspects were from Shapiro’s state):
Shapiro last called Mamdani last year to express concern over the now-mayor’s comments on Israel and anti-semitism.
This conversation with now a fellow target of political violence was a different type of call: https://t.co/thAiPKP2p2

“This conversation with now a fellow target of political violence was a different type of call.”
Huh? Mamdani was not the target of the attempted terrorist attack that took place near the official mayoral residence on Saturday.
Understandably, X users let Dovere have it:
It is almost unreal how much you and your network are pushing the “Mamdani was the target”, even after several published corrections, and a correction from your own primetime panel host stating the same.

CNN can’t stop lying. And when no one is disciplined or fired, the only conclusion is that this is exactly what CNN wants.

Despite multiple post deletions, corrections and retractions, the CNN’ers just keep right on lying about this.
Which is exactly why the “we just made a mistake” stuff is complete garbage.

Did a memo go out to CNN reporters to lie about the incident outside Gracie Mansion? Because they’re sure acting like it. https://t.co/srDm3otos1

I honestly don’t think they even need a memo to push this blatantly false narrative, something that RedState’s own Brad Slager noted as well:
It has to be confirmed by this point that @CNN has a design to run this false narrative.
How does @IsaacDovere contend that Mamdani was in any way targeted Saturday when it has long been confirmed who was behind the IED attacks? https://t.co/1kLxetsTqR— Brad Slager: CNN+ Lifetime Subscriber (@MartiniShark) March 11, 2026
This is the same network that lied with impunity about Joe Biden’s decline for four years and berated anyone who came on their program who dared question it. And yet CNN proudly bragged about a book one of their senior anchors (Jake Tapper) put out the following year on the cover-up of Biden’s health issues, as though he and his CNN colleagues had nothing to do with it.
Acting as apologists for Democrats and their extremist allies has been par for the course for CNN for years, and this story is just another reminder of how you simply can’t despise the MSM enough.
Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
