One might have thought that the prospect of an acquisition of its parent company by Paramount Skydance would lead CNN to moderate its left-wing stance, but no: in the past 48 hours it has repeatedly embarrassed itself, over just one news story.
The story, of course, is that of the two Islamic extremists who tried to murder anti-Islam demonstrators, police officers, and bystanders outside of Gracie Mansion with improvised explosive devices, while yelling “Allahu Akbar.” CNN’s story on the terrorist attack began bizarrely with:
Two Pennsylvania teenagers crossed into New York City Saturday morning for what could’ve been a normal day enjoying the city during abnormally warm weather. But in less than an hour, their lives would drastically change….
CNN later recanted that opening paragraph. But its on-air personalities went on to assert the absurd claim that Mayor Mamdani–a Muslim and sympathizer with radical Islam–was the target of the attack. First, Abby Phillip, who rarely gets anything right, said “Two Republicans say Muslims don’t belong here after an attempted terror attack against New York’s Mayor Zohran Mamdani…” She later seemed to attribute her false assertion to a teleprompter:
I want to correct something I said last night. The bombs thrown in New York City over the weekend by ISIS inspired attackers was thrown into a crowd of anti-Muslim protestors and not specifically targeted at Mayor Mamdani. That wording was inaccurate and I didn’t catch it ahead…

Astonishingly, after Phillips’ gaffe, another CNN host repeated the same falsehood:
Later in the program, CNN’s Ana Navarro said the attack was “against Mayor Mandani in New York, who was raised Muslim.”
CNN is hopeless. Assuming the Paramount deal goes through, the new owners should either clean house thoroughly, or shut the network down altogether.
