One Dead, Two Injured At Old Dominion University

Three people were hospitalized after a man opened fire at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, on Thursday. Authorities identified the suspected gunman as Mohammad Bailor Jalloh. FBI Director Kash Patel announced the bureau is investigating the actions as an act of terrorism. “Our Joint Terrorism Task Force is fully engaged, embedded with local authorities, and providing all resources necessary in the investigation,” said Patel. 

At 10:43 a.m., the Norfolk police began receiving calls that an active shooter was inside Constant Hall, one of the school’s academic centers. “We received information that people were being shot inside of the classrooms,” said Old Dominion Police Chief Garrett Shelton.

Shelton said the first officers arrived on the scene by 10:47 a.m. and that by 10:50 a.m., Jalloh was pronounced dead on the scene.

Shelton said there are three victims in the shooting. Shelton confirmed two victims were transported to the hospital for medical treatment and the third victim transported themselves. One of the victims has died from their injuries/

Students were evacuated from the scene and the school has canceled all classes and operations for the day.

Shelton said the police department was notified the third victim transported themselves to the hospital after the initial announcement was made.
