America’s winning streak in the energy sector continues apace, and now we’re leveraging that winning streak to cover our Pacific allies as well. On Sunday, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum appeared on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo. Secretary Burgum was there not only to talk up the Trump administration’s successes in restarting American energy policies but also to describe a conference in Tokyo with several Asian powers, at which multiple deals were signed, sealed, and delivered.
.@SecretaryBurgum on the $57B in deals made between U.S. companies and Asian partners at the Energy Security Forum in Tokyo:

Here’s the big news:
Maria Bartiromo: Let’s get to the news that you are breaking this morning, Mr. Secretary, because I know that you’ve got a huge update to share with us. How many deals have you done, and is it $56 billion in total, and what specifically are these deals about?
Secretary Doug Burgum: Well, I think it went from, we had one more after the conference closed, from $56 billion to $57 billion, over 22 deals. We have over 630 attendees at this conference, the first-ever Indo-Pacific energy security conference led by the United States here. And of course, this is all of our Pacific allies, from Australia and New Zealand all the way up to Japan. And this conference was planned months ago, completely independent of anything going on in the Middle East because this is President Trump’s energy dominance policy is about that we need to sell energy to our friends and allies so they don’t have to buy from adversaries, so they don’t have to be dependent on sources of energy that can be controlled or constrained by a terrorist regime. So, this has been part of President Trump’s energy dominance policy since Day One.
We should note that the way this is framed, it’s not just a matter of energy policy. This is now a geopolitical exercise, leveraging America’s resurgent energy sector to shore up energy security for our allies in the Pacific as well. It’s in America’s interest to remain the Pacific power (the fact that we hold Alaska and Hawaii goes a long way toward that), and these kinds of energy deals can not only profit American companies and workers but also make sure our allies are covered as well.
There are more wheels within wheels in this deal than many people (Democrats) might expect. Secretary Burgum also said:
Of course, this oversubscribed, sold-out conference, every single country that was here we did a ministerial meeting with them this afternoon with about six different Cabinet agencies there, including the Department of Energy, the National Energy Dominance Council, State, Commerce, and the Department of Interior. These folks, the ministers, the leaders, we had three presidents of countries that are part of the (inaudible) states in the South Pacific. They all want to have energy security. They see the U.S. as a reliable partner. They see us now as the #1 oil producer, #1 gas producer, #1 LNG export, and a number of these deals that you saw like one of the biggest ones is a $10 billion offtake agreement between Venture Global and one of the leading companies in South Korea coming off the backs of Venture Global announcing on Friday night an $8.6 billion expansion to increase their ability to export U.S. gas, and that LNG, and this of course means fantastic jobs in America along the gulf coast, and it also means for our allies being able to have a supplier that’s dependable, reliable and affordable.
These Asian countries, most notably Japan and South Korea, plainly see the advantage of doing business with the United States, instead of Russia or Iran.

Deals like these are the logical outcome of ramping up our energy production. And it’s not just energy; as I’ve written many times, petroleum is at the heart of everything in our modern world, from truck tires to plastics to industrial chemicals to pharmaceutical precursors. Our modern life is literally impossible without petroleum, and in the last year, America has kick-started our own exploration and development of these resources. Now, with these deals, we’re making sure our allies in the Pacific are covered as well.
Now, if we can just keep the White House and Congress in the hands of people who want to continue this winning streak. Vote!
