Today members of the intelligence community testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee. This follows the submission of this year’s Annual Threat Assessment by the Director of National Intelligence. This is DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s opening statement:
Below is the entire public portion of the hearing. Much of the discussion is informative, some of it is frivolous: for example, the Democrats’ outrage that there is nothing in this year’s Threat Assessment on climate change. On the other hand, the Democrats to make one valid point: President Trump’s assertion that no one foresaw that Iran would attack the Gulf states and shut down the Strait of Hormuz was absurd. Also, the administration has inexplicably gotten tangled up in talk about “imminent” threat, another unforced error.
The public hearing was followed by a classified private session. It would be interesting to know whether the Democrats are any less partisan when the cameras are off.
