Keir Starmer warned of new Iranian capability to strike Britain and European allies

Keir Starmer has been alerted that Iran now possesses weaponry capable of striking European capitals including Britain, the Israeli Defence Forces warned.

Earlier today, Iran launched two missiles at the Diego Garcia military base, a joint British-American installation in the Chagos Islands.

An American naval vessel successfully intercepted one of the strikes, whilst the other malfunctioned during its trajectory and failed to reach the target.

Neither missile caused damage to the strategically vital base, which serves as a crucial outpost for both nations in the region.

This attack, launched from approximately 2,400 miles away, marks the first verified deployment of long-range ballistic missiles by the Iranian regime.

According to the IDF’s assessment released this evening, the attempted attack revealed for the first time that Iranian missiles can travel distances of 4,000 kilometres.

This range places dozens of nations across Europe, Asia and Africa within potential striking distance, representing what military officials describe as an “immediate threat to the continent”.

Israel has issued a stark warning to Sir Keir Starmer regarding the global danger posed by Tehran’s enhanced missile programme.

The IDF stated: “We have been saying it: The Iranian terrorist regime poses a global threat. Now, with missiles that can reach London, Paris or Berlin”.

Israeli officials and Western defence experts have emphasised that this development fundamentally alters the security landscape for European nations amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Iran’s ballistic capabilities are thought to now extend far beyond regional conflicts, potentially threatening major population centres across multiple continents with weapons previously thought beyond Tehran’s technological reach.

Kemi Badenoch has accused Sir Keir Starmer of covering up Iran’s attempted attack on Diego Garcia, and that he needed to “come clean” .

Government sources confirmed the attack happened before it released a statement on Friday, in which it said it had allowed the US military to launch attacks on Iran from the base to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

It means the British public had not been informed immediately about the attack, and it has still not been confirmed exactly when the attempted strike took place.

Ms Badenoch said: “Keir Starmer has dithered and delayed on the Iran conflict from the outset.

“Now we find out, from the media and not the Prime Minister, that the British base on Diego Garcia has been the target of Iranian missile attacks.

“As we saw with Peter Mandelson, Starmer’s first instinct is always to cover up the truth. On Wednesday he attacked me at PMQs for calling for the proper defence of our bases, now we learn that as he did so our base in the Chagos Islands was being targeted by Iran.
