Trump shares SNL UK skit portraying ‘scared’ Keir Starmer | UK | News

Donald Trump has continued to ridicule Sir Kier Starmer after the US President shared a comedy sketch aired on the inaugural episode of the UK version of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Trump refrained from adding any words to his post as he shared the clip, but the skit depicted Starmer as seemingly intimidated by the US President. Starmer has recently been on the receiving end of Trump’s criticism due to his perceived inaction over Iran, according to the US President, who continues to assert that the PM is “no Churchill”

The two-and-a-half-minute clip, which was broadcast on Sky last night (March 21), showed the cast portraying the Prime Minister as being fearful of Trump. Part of the clip features a jittery Starmer, played by George Fouracres, saying “what if Donald shouts at me.” As the skit progresses, Trump picks up the phone, causing Starmer to scream in terror and hang up. He then says: “I just want to keep him happy, Lammy. You don’t understand him like I do. I can change him.”

The skit then sees Starmer admit he is “out of my depth” before commenting how Liz Truss made the “job look so easy.”

Then Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, portrayed by Hammed Animashaun, speaks before enlisting a “Gen Z adviser” to help Starmer engage with Trump.

This prompts Starmer to leave a voicemail for Trump where he implores the US President to “remember the good times” whilst making references to the hit TV show Friends.

The premiere of SNL UK, hosted by US SNL legend Tina Fey, received a mixed response but seemed to attract the attention of the US President as he continues to criticise Starmer.

Trump has stated that the UK “should have acted a lot faster” in permitting America to utilise British bases to target Iranian missile sites threatening the Strait of Hormuz.

Ministers agreed on Friday (March 20) afternoon that UK bases could be used for US “defensive operations to degrade the missile sites and capabilities being used to attack ships”.

Speaking to journalists outside the White House, Trump said: “It’s been a very late response from the UK.

“I’m surprised because the relationship is so good, but this has never happened before. They were really, pretty much our first ally, all over the world.”

Last week, Trump expressed that he “liked” the UK Prime Minister but felt “disappointed” with his recent stance concerning the conflict with Iran.

Trump then reiterated his claim that “unfortunately Keir is no Winston Churchill”.
