UK gin distillery which produced 500,000 bottles a year enters liquidation | UK | News

The liquidation of Chase Distillery Limited was announced in a government gazette on Friday, 27 March. The firm, a British spirits manufacturer owned by international beverage titan Diageo, has undergone significant restructuring, resulting in the closure of its original production site.

Established in 2008 by William Chase, Diageo purchased the company in March 2021 with plans to broaden its “premium-plus” spirits range.

Diageo initiated the liquidation process for Chase Distillery as a subsidiary entity, anticipated to be finalised by June 2025.

The original “field-to-bottle” distillery at Chase Farm in Herefordshire permanently shut down in January of the previous year.

All distillation operations were transferred to Diageo’s Cameronbridge Distillery in Scotland, where renowned brands such as Tanqueray, Gordon’s and Smirnoff are also produced.

The Chase brand’s Original Potato Vodka, crowned “World’s Best Vodka” at the 2010 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Chase GB Extra Dry Gin and Williams Elegant Gin, among others, were marketed from the Scottish site.

The document published on 27 March stated: “Notice is hereby given that the creditors of the above named Company which is being voluntarily wound up”.

“Those creditors who have not yet proved their debt have been instructed to, on or before 24 April, 2026 – the final date for proving – to submit their names and addresses and to provide their proof of debt to the undersigned.

“A creditor who has not proved his debt before the declaration of any dividend is not entitled to disturb, by reason that he has not participated in it, the distribution of that dividend or any other dividend before his debt was proved,” the government gazette further noted.
