‘She should be here’: Illegal immigrant charged in shooting death of Loyola University student in Chicago.
“She” is Sheridan Gorman,
An 18-year-old Loyola University student was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant while walking in a park with friends, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Sheridan Gorman was walking around 1 a.m. March 19 when a masked gunman approached her group. As she tried to run away, the gunman fired and shot her, according to DHS. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jose Medina-Medina, a Venezuelan man in the country illegally, has been arrested and charged in connection with her death.
The quote in my headline comes from a statement issued by Sheridan’s family. But it is literally true. Had Medina-Medina been barred entry to America as he should have been back in 2023 (Biden Administration) all of this could have been avoided.

A search of a Chicago police arrest records database reveals only one encounter that resulted in Medina’s brief detention. That was in 2023 when police arrested him for shoplifting $134 worth of merchandise from the Macy’s on State Street. Prosecutors charged him with a misdemeanor and he was released pending trial.
Medina never went back to court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Because he skipped court and refused to face justice, immigration advocates would mark him as having “no criminal convictions.”
Likewise, Medina’s crossing the border without authorization was a criminal act. It is not a “civil offense” as it is constantly, and falsely, described by immigration advocates.
In their appeals to the innumerate, immigration advocates try to argue further that Ms. Gorman was less likely to be a crime victim because of Medina’s presence in America.
They argue, contrary to all available evidence, that immigrants commit crimes less frequently than “native” Americans, that immigrants comprise a large share of the population of those living in the United States, therefore, immigrants lower the crime rate.
That false calculation did not save Sheridan Gorman from Jose Medina. Had he been turned away at the border in 2023, she would be alive today. An illegal immigration rate of zero means an illegal immigrant crime rate of zero. Banning illegal immigrants would lower American crime levels and it would lower American crime rates. That’s how math works.
