Buc-ees is America | Power Line

Blasphemy from the pages of the U.K. Daily Mail,

Brand new 74,000 sq-ft Buc-ee’s sparks outrage from locals who are concerned for their safety: ‘Our children deserve better’

This slander is originating in Stafford, VA, an exurban Washington, DC, community south of our nation’s capital, on I-95. I will entertain no criticism of the franchise.

From the Daily Mail,

According to reports, the main concerns center on heavy traffic, related safety issues, and the overdevelopment of the neighborhood.

And this quote,

There will be higher crime due to the influx of people from all over the United States. Many of these criminals would then canvas local communities for easy opportunities, ie burglaries, home invasions, car thefts, child abductions and other crimes.

Wut? I take that the speaker above has never seen Anacostia, has never ridden the Green Line, and obvioulsly has never visited Baltimore.

I’ve been to Stafford, it sits within one of America’s largest metropolitan areas, and at the southern edge of the Northeast Megalopolis (Boston-Washington Corridor), home to some 53 million people.

So what are they talking about?
