From The Hill newspaper,

Top House Democrat on Biden immigration policy: ‘We should have the border more secure than it was’

More secure than what? More secure during the Biden Administration.

The Democrat quoted is Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), appearing on the Fox News Sunday morning talk shows.

The Hill quotes Rep. Smith,

The Biden administration did not do immigration enforcement the way it should have. We should have [had] the border more secure than it was.

We all agree on that. But, how much more secure should it have been?

But there’s plenty of room between that policy, between the radical-left policy you keep talking about, you know, open borders and all that. And having, you know, masked unidentified ICE agents show up. No probable cause.

Ok.

On Sunday, Smith said lawmakers must find a middle ground between two extremes on immigration policy and work to fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

But where on that middle ground does Rep. Smith stand? Is he closer to the “open borders” position, or closer to “masked agents”? As for “probable cause,” the probable cause is that the target is a known illegal alien and has committed a federal crime.

For more than a year, Democrats have had the luxury of not having to be in favor of anything. They can get away with just being opposed to whatever Trump wants.

But actions speak louder than words. For the past six weeks and counting, Democrats have shut down the federal Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), including TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, etc. Democrats have voted for (and the Senate passed) a bill to zero-out the already-approved 2026 funding for ICE and border patrol. The bill include’s actual zeros (O’s) in the funding column for those two law enforcement agencies within DHS. Democrats have defunded the police. Zero funding for border protection means open borders.

Meanwhile, The Hill reports,

Booker on Trump paying TSA: ‘Why didn’t he do this weeks ago’

Bookdr in this instance is U.S. Senator Cory Bo0ker (D-NJ). Appearing on the NBC Sunday morning show, Booker is quoted,

“Why didn’t he do this weeks ago when we started seeing the suffering of folks at the airports? And remember, this fight has never been about TSA,” he added.

On Friday, the president ordered DHS to pay TSA employees during the government shutdown.

So Booker is arguing that Trump should have ignored Congress from day 1?
