The nonprofit scam | Power Line

From the New York Post,

San Francisco human rights boss accused of corruption arrives in court.

The Post reports,

[Sheryl] Davis, former head of the city’s Human Rights Commission, was arrested Monday alongside her boyfriend James Spingola on charges of multiple felony counts of misappropriating public funds and conflicts of interest.

The Post adds,

They are accused of diverting millions in funds meant to uplift the black community after the death of George Floyd. She was in charge of the Dream Keeper Initiative — a $120 million plan to assist black residents.

The punch line,

About $3 million went toward Spingola’s nonprofit despite netting low scores from city evaluators.

The nonprofit was named “Collective Impact,” which now accurately describes the feelings of City/County taxpayers. In the nonprofit’s most recent tax return filing (2024) Spignola is listed as the executive director, taking in an annual salary of $187,000.

The City/County is no stranger to corruption, but, perhaps, the preferred vehicle has changed over time. For over four years now, I’ve been studying the multi-billion frauds perpetrated in Minnesota, and the politically-connected nonprofit is the goto vehicle.

And the only politics that is ever connected is on the Democratic side. In Minnesota, at least, bureaucrats are ever-skeptical of the motives of for-profit companies, but remain permanently credulous of any nonprofit entity.
