On a day when Americans are celebrating a stunning triumph in Iran carried out by our special forces and other military assets, it seems fitting to mention a former Navy SEAL, Montana Senator Tim Sheehy, who will be coming to Minnesota to keynote American Experiment’s Annual Dinner on April 17. Senator Sheehy will be coming full circle, as he grew up in Minnesota and attended American Experiment Annual Dinners as a high school student.
Information about the Annual Dinner is here. You can buy tickets at the link, too.
Last week, Senator Sheehy was a guest on the American Experiment podcast. Here are a couple of brief clips from that interview:
I wouldn’t be surprised if in his speech on the 17th, along with bringing the latest word from Washington, Senator Sheehy might call on his special ops background to comment on yesterday’s rescue mission.
And speaking of patriotism, American Experiment is coordinating Minnesota’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and America’s founding. (You won’t be surprised to learn that the Tim Walz administration is sitting this one out.) We kicked off our year-long anniversary programming with an event on March 30 that featured Hillsdale Professor David Azerrad, a naturalized citizen who was born in Canada. It was a terrific speech that began with the observation that upward mobility, while certainly desirable, is not the core American virtue that we should celebrate. Check out his speech, I think you will enjoy it:
Much more to come over the course of the year.
