Broadcaster Piers Morgan has publicly urged Donald Trump to delete a controversial social media post, warning it risks damaging perceptions of the president’s judgement, and could make everyone think the US president has “lost his marbles”.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Morgan wrote: “This is embarrassing, Delete it, President @realDonaldTrump – unless you want everyone to think you’ve lost your marbles.”
The plea came in response to a message shared by Trump in which he appeared to reference Iran in dramatic and inflammatory terms, including threats and profane language. The post quickly drew attention online, with critics questioning its tone and implications.
Morgan, a longtime Trump commentator who has alternated between support and criticism over the years, has previously called on the president to remove contentious content.
The exchange rapidly gained traction on social media, attracting millions of views and sparking debate among users.
Some supported Morgan’s call for the post’s removal, while others defended Trump’s remarks or dismissed the concerns as overblown.
This is not the first time Trump’s social media activity has generated controversy.
Only two weeks ago, Piers Morgan responded to the Trump administration releasing a video which spliced footage from real-life drone strike videos from the Iran conflict with clips from a Nintendo Wii game.
The post shows footage of strikes cut with parts of the Wii Sports game, with the programme’s recognisable upbeat music playing in the background as characters scored bullseyes. The caption accompanying the alarming post simply said: “UNDEFEATED.”
Reacting to the video, Morgan fumed: “I loathe these posts that treat war like a video game. It’s deadly serious, and a lot of people are getting killed, including innocent children and US servicemen/women.”
The White House has not yet publicly responded to the latest incident, and it remains unclear whether the post will be taken down.
