Democrats have been losing their minds over the arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan for allegedly obstructing federal agents from arresting an illegal alien, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz.
The agents had been waiting for him out in the hallway. The judge allegedly directed them away to see Milwaukee County Chief Judge Carl Ashley. Then, she allegedly hustled Flores-Ruiz out another door.
Democrats have been talking about how the arrest is an outrage, a constitutional crisis, and an affront to the rule of law. You even had Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) saying we should “fight this with everything we have.” All of that was insane and utter nonsense.

If you want to talk about due process, what about the state’s attorney and the victims in the courtroom waiting for the case to be heard, who were left high and dry because of what Dugan did? They didn’t find out until later that the case had been adjourned after the state’s attorney wondered why the case hadn’t been called.
Now, Chief Judge Carl Ashley is blowing up the notion that you can’t arrest someone in the public hallway where the agents were waiting, and that the warrant the federal agents had was sufficient.
Milwaukee County Chief Judge Carl Ashley said federal agents have leeway to operate in the hallways of the Milwaukee County Courthouse, even if they only have what’s known as an administrative warrant.
Asked to comment on the April 25 arrest of Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan, Ashley said a formal policy for access to the courthouse is still being drafted but the county faces “limitations on what we can do.”
“The reality is, for my colleagues, we don’t have control in the public hallways,” Ashley said.
He said that an administrative warrant, despite lacking a judge’s signature, can be used to make arrests in a public hallway.
Whoops. We knew that already, but thanks for clarifying that for the peanut gallery, Judge Ashley. The Democrats likely wouldn’t be talking about what Ashley said.
Judge Dugan has now been temporarily relieved of her duties, pending the outcome of her case. If what the affidavit says is true, she’s in deep trouble because there are multiple witnesses from the folks who were in the courtroom. As Border Czar Tom Homan said, the federal government will not ignore actions to block federal agents from doing their jobs.

It’s also something that has commonly happened in courthouses in the past, but just like with so many things, Democrats are taking the normal process and trying to paint it as abnormal to attack President Donald Trump. They’re wedding themselves to bad takes like this, and it’s going to come back to bite them in the 2026 midterms if they continue down this path.
Being the party of protecting illegal aliens is not a great look.
