Beshear ‘considers’ 2028 run | Power Line

I again nominate Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear for bottom story of the day. The Hill newspaper reports,

Beshear says he’d ‘consider’ 2028 White House run.

Uh Huh. Same here.

The Commonwealth’s two-term Democratic governor is answering a question no one is asking, except for Louisville’s Fox outlet WDRB. Of course, the governor was in town for the Derby, which runs tomorrow for the 151st time. The station’s report runs all of 31 seconds. On second thought, it’s not clear anyone actually asked Beshear the question. He says,

“If you’d asked me a couple years ago if this is something I’d consider, I probably wouldn’t have, but I don’t want to leave a broken country to my kids,” Beshear told WDRB at Churchill Downs.

One of Beshear’s perhaps, maybe 2028 opponents also made a headline in The Hill today. Illinois Gov. J.D. Pritzker, the Hyatt Hotels heir,

Pritzker on Trump: Everyone understands ‘we’ve got an authoritarian in office’

How strange is it the Trump is the first authoritarian in the history of the world whose primary goal is to shrink the size of government? The Hill continues,

Trump has relentlessly attacked Pritzker for his discernible weight. During a campaign rally in Ohio last year, he accused the governor leader of being “too busy eating” to lead the state and riffed on how many hamburgers he would order.

“Discernible”? The governor is way beyond merely discernable. Oops. Now I’m in big trouble back here in Minnesota. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported yesterday that the progressive city council passed an ordinance “barring discrimination against people on the basis of their height, weight, housing status or because they were formerly incarcerated.”

Please don’t report me.
