Prince William has given royal fans a sneak peak into his life as a parent – opening up on one very normal activity he can no longer do with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Earlier this week the Prince and Princess of Wales chose to spend their 14th anniversary on the Isle of Mull in Scotland.
More than 200 tourists and local residents lined the main street of Tobermory, the island’s capital, to see William and Kate arrive. The island boasts rows of coloured houses and independent businesses as well as miles of beautiful coastline with incredible wildlife. The couple’s two-day visit to the Isle of Mull was aimed at celebrating remote communities and the environment.
Whilst visiting Aros Hall community centre, which features the Scottish island’s only soft play area, Prince William admitted he struggled with one area of parenting these days.
During their visit, Kate spoke to mothers about the facility and connections with other parents.
Bonding with fellow mums Kate spoke how she wished there was a place like that when she had given birth to Prince George while living in Anglesey. The princess explained visited a Waitrose café to see other people.
Over the years, it appears William and Kate have taken their children to soft play areas quite often with Prince William adding a typical dad joke.
Kate said: “We hang out a lot at soft play. Mine absolutely love it.”
William then gestured to his knees to joke: “You still think you can do it yourself, but…” – hinting that he might no longer be able to take part in these activities with his children George, Charlotte and Louis.
Prince William also was taken aback at the new set-up, noticing one huge difference to those he had been to before.
He said: “It’s not usually this clean. It’s beautiful. And it’s really cosy and fun.”
Aros Hall is one of two community centres to benefit from a grant from the Waleses’ Royal Foundation.
On Tuesday the Princess of Wales showed off her DIY skills earlier today when she used a nail gun to help construct a sign for a Community Pantry during a visit to Aros Hall, a local community hub in Tobermory, Scotland. Tobermory was where the popular BBC children’s TV series Balamory was filmed.
