The nation has united to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a four-day celebration that began on May 5.

The commemorations honoured the millions who served in the Second World War across the UK and Commonwealth.

Events so far have included a military procession from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace, followed by a flypast featuring current and historic aircraft, including the Red Arrows.

The King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children were among those who joined Second World War veterans to watch the military procession and Red Arrows flyby.

Britons have also been urged to unite in streets, gardens, town halls, clubs, and pubs, similar to how people marked the end of nearly six years of war 80 years ago.

VE Day celebrations were kicked off outside Parliament Square in central London on Monday.
