Tou Thao speaks | Power Line

Alpha News reporter Liz Collin’s interview with former MPD Officer Tou Thao is approaching 150,000 views on YouTube. The related Alpha News story is posted here. This is the first in a series of three videos Liz has prepared in connection with the fifth anniversary of George Floyd’s death next week. I’ll be back with the second tomorrow and the third next Monday.

In his remarks to Liz, Thao alludes to former MPD Chief Medaria Arradondo, the department’s first black police chief. Having come up in the ranks before his service as police chief, he knew the department pretty well. I have waited for some enterprising reporter to ask Arradondo if he knew he was running a racist police department.

Arradondo has written a book on the Chauvin case that was published yesterday. Arradondo is out promoting the book. KARE 11’s Jana Shortal interviewed him about it last week here. The interview runs some 27 minutes. Shortal proves herself not to be the enterprising reporter I have in mind. That much I can tell you.
