Anti-Semitism Is Carefully Taught | Power Line

The National Education Union is the largest teachers’ union in the United Kingdom, and in Europe. The NEU has now set out to teach British children to side with the Palestinians in their efforts to extinguish Israel:

The National Education Union (NEU) is holding a workshop next month to train members in how to “advocate for Palestine in our schools”.

At the same time, the union encouraged teachers to hold a day of action at their place of work on Thursday to highlight “the Palestinian struggle for freedom”.

How will NEU bring pro-Palestine views into British schools?

The NEU-organised workshop, being held in Liverpool on June 14, is being run by Makan, an educational group that works towards “adopting educational approaches that capture the history of the Palestinian struggle”, which are “aimed at strengthening the movement for Palestinian liberation”.

Makan says its workshops are designed to provide “foundational knowledge on key issues like the Nakba, settler colonialism, imperialism, and apartheid”.

More:

The NEU-backed Nakba day of action encourages teachers to circulate petitions calling for the boycott of companies “complicit in Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian land”, including arms companies supplying Israel; and organise lunch-time meetings and after-school film screenings “to educate colleagues about the Palestinian struggle”.

The NEU argues, risibly, that its support for “Palestine” does not violate the obligation of teachers to avoid promoting “partisan political views” in schools.

[The NEU said:] “Teachers know when addressing any political or sensitive issues in school their professional obligation is to do so in an impartial, respectful, calm and balanced way.”

Of course, there is nothing impartial or balanced about advocating the “Palestinian” cause and accusing Israel of “settler colonialism, imperialism and apartheid.” I’m sure “genocide” is not far behind.

It is striking how similar this anti-Jewish effort by the teachers’ union in Britain is to the anti-Jewish effort being carried out by the teachers’ unions in the United States. The same pro-Arab bias and the same themes–“settler colonialism,” and so on–are present. The lessons being taught to children are apparently identical.

That these themes make no sense is incidental. Jews arrived in the Holy Land 2,000 years before the Arabs, so if anyone is a settler, a colonialist, and an imperialist, it is the Arabs. And as far as “apartheid” is concerned, millions of Arab Muslims live peacefully in Israel, enjoying equal rights, while Jews are an endangered species in Muslim countries, where they have not been wholly eradicated.

The fact that precisely the same lies are being told by teachers’ unions in the U.K. as in America suggests that anti-Jewish animus is not unique to either country’s culture or political environment, but rather is a central feature of the international Left’s drive for power. The frightening reality is that the international Left has a firm grasp on the education of the next generation of our children.
