The BBC’s Question Time was dramatically disrupted this evening by an urgent ‘breaking news’ announcement amid the escalating public clash between Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Panel members Alex Davies-Jones MP, Darren Millar MS, Llinos Medi MP, Annabel Denham, and Mark Serwotka, with Fiona Bruce at the helm, were in the midst of debating Wales’s new 20mph speed restrictions and the surge in illegal boat crossings when the show was abruptly paused for the crucial update. Sparking controversy among viewers, the “breaking news” featured US President Donald Trump issuing a bold ultimatum to Elon Musk.
In the pivotal newsflash, Trump openly expressed his “very disappointed” stance on the SpaceX entrepreneur, threatening to terminate Musk’s government contracts, stirring discontent amongst the audience.
Trump elaborated: “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should’ve done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”.
The US President expressed his frustration, commenting: “I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this Bill better than anybody sitting here, better than you people. He knew everything about it, he had no problem about it and all of a sudden, he has a problem, and he only developed the problem when he found out we’re going to cut the EVs because that’s billions and billions of dollars. I’m very disappointed in Elon, I’ve helped Elon a lot.”, reports the Mirror.
Elon Musk took to his personal social media platform X with fiery words: “Without me, Trump would have lost the election. Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” accusing the President of displaying “such ingratitude”.
Viewers keen on tuning into Question Time were left disgruntled when they encountered an unexpected switch to a discussion of the Trump-Musk dispute on iPlayer. Displeasure was aired on social networks, with one irritated individual posting: “You disappeared from the @BBCNews channel and from the iPlayer at 9:15pm! Instead we now have some random commentators chatting about the spat between Trump and Musk. Bring back #BBCQT!”.
Another dismayed viewer lamented: “#bbcqt why on earth has bbc news cut away from question time on iplayer and bbc news to tell us about a spat between Trump and Musk absolutely ridiculous.”
Question Time‘s host Fiona Bruce indicated that next week’s edition will take place in Fleetwood, Lancashire.
