The Democrats’ favorite MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, wife beater and illegal alien is Kilmar Abrego Garcia. One Democratic senator went so far as to travel to El Salvador to drink margaritas with him. For some weeks now, Democrats have been demanding that the Trump administration bring Garcia back to the U.S., even though no one questions that he is an illegal immigrant and a citizen of El Salvador, who is subject to (among other things) a deportation order. This is the depth to which our politics have sunk.
But now the Democrats have gotten their wish: Garcia is being brought to the U.S. to face human trafficking charges:
The newly unsealed indictment charges Abrego Garcia with unlawful transportation of undocumented aliens and a related conspiracy charge. He stands accused of making more than 100 trips from Texas to other parts of the country over the course of years to transport migrants in exchange for payment.
The investigation stems from when the Tennessee Highway Patrol pulled over Abrego Garcia in December 2022 for speeding, and video of the incident shows the officer skeptical of a van full of passengers without any luggage. The indictment alleges Abrego Garcia falsely told the officer he was driving construction workers from St. Louis, but he was actually on one of his trips transporting undocumented migrants.
Democratic Party journalists were outraged when the administration returned Garcia to his homeland, and now they are outraged that the administration is bringing him back. You can’t win. The New York Times headlines: “Return of Wrongly Deported Man Raises Questions About Trump’s Views of Justice.” Garcia was not wrongly deported. He is an illegal alien, and a criminal to boot, and was sent to the country of which he is a citizen, El Salvador. I don’t think there is any puzzle about President Trump’s “views of justice,” or those of most Americans.
