I have been meaning to write about the assassination attempt on Senator Miguel Uribe of Colombia. Uribe is a conservative and a leading candidate for Colombia’s presidency. Or he was, anyway, until he was shot in the head yesterday. Most recently he was reported to be still alive, but in critical condition. The assassin was a 15-year-old boy who presumably was acting pursuant to orders from Uribe’s political opponents.
There have been a number of such cases lately. Via InstaPundit:

To this list, we can add Spanish conservative Alejo Vidal-Quadras, who was shot in the face in November 2023. Vidal-Quadras was also “far right,” which in today’s world seems to mean Open Season in the lexicon of the Left.
This partial itemization of recent assassinations and assassination attempts is context for the violence now being fomented by the Left in Los Angeles.
