The local ABC affiliate, KSTP-5, reports on its latest polling on Gov. Tim Walz,
According to our survey, 43% want him to run again, 43% say he should not and 13 % say they’re not sure.
Walz is the incumbent two-term governor and the most recent Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee. And he can’t even muster a plurality, much less a majority, to say he should run for a third term as governor.
KSTP’s results on Walz’ approval rating are less surprising,
According to our KSTP/SurveyUSA poll, 58% of Minnesotans somewhat or strongly approve of the governor’s job performance, 39% somewhat or strongly disapprove and 3% are not sure.
It’s long been recognized that Minnesotans will always rate a Democratic politician above 50 percent, especially one that have voted for twice. To do otherwise would be to admit personal error. But when it comes to individual policies and actions (like running for re-election) they feel freer to say what’s on their minds.
So, it has to be the case that a significant share of those who profess to approve of Walz’ job performance, would prefer that he stop doing his job. Oof.
On a daily basis, Minnesota sees itself embarrassed on the international stage. I just want to let you know that not everyone agrees with it here. Please pray for us, nonetheless.
The occasion of the KSTP poll is the Walz testimony before Congress tomorrow (Thursday) on the subject of illegal immigration and sanctuary states.
Popping the popcorn now.
