Nancy Pelosi has outdone herself in foul mendacity.
The self-styled “Speaker Emeritus” gave a press conference this week to rail against President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard in response LA’s violent riots. She whined about the traffic and then peddled the most egregious lie.
“On January 6th […2021] we begged the president of the United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it… And yet, in a contra-constitutional way, he has sent the National Guard into California. Something is very wrong with this picture.”
In January 2021, it was actually President Trump who urged the use of the National Guard to manage the huge crowd coming to DC for the last rally of his first term. Pelosi, as Speaker, ignored the increasingly frantic pleas from then-Capitol police chief Steve Sund for backup.
As Sund points out, and as he has testified, “he made 11 urgent calls requesting National Guard support on Jan. 6, starting at 12:58 PM. Approval was withheld for 71 minutes by the House Sergeant at Arms, who reported directly to Speaker Pelosi. She caused critical delays, and now is shifting blame to [Trump] for failures she helped create. The record is clear.”
Pelosi made sure the outnumbered Capitol Police were left like sitting ducks to satisfy her obsession to destroy Trump. She hurt a lot of people. And now she lies through her plastic teeth and blames him.
