I love a parade! | Power Line

The big, beautiful military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army kicks off at 6:30 p.m. (ET) tomorrow, Flag Day. The Hill newspaper provides tips for viewing online or on TV. It’s scheduled to last 90 minutes.

As everyone I’ve ever met knows, I was an eyewitness to the June 1991 Gulf War Victory parade, held at roughly the same spot in Washington, DC. I’ll be watching this one on television.

The Hill notes the iffy weather forecast for the event, which will be held, rain or shine. Quoting Pres. Trump,

“I hope the weather’s OK, but actually if it’s not, that brings you good luck, and that’s OK, too,” the president said during this week’s congressional picnic at the White House. “It doesn’t affect the tanks at all; it doesn’t affect the soldiers — they’re used to it, they’re tough.”

Leading up to the Flag Day event, Trump is riding a wave of popularity. Rasmussen shows his approval rating at 53-45. Rasmussen also indicates that 57 percent approve of Trump’s deployment of troops to Los Angeles.

What’s that you say? You don’t love America? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, too. CNN reports,

As a military parade rolls through Washington, DC, on Saturday – President Donald Trump’s birthday – millions of Americans are expected to protest in what organizers predict will be the strongest display of opposition to Trump’s administration since he took office in January.

That Trump was born on Flag Day, CNN refuses to attribute to mere coincidence. CNN adds,

More than 2,000 protests across all 50 states are planned through the No Kings movement, which organizers say seeks to reject “authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarization of our democracy.”

I’m sure that there’s one near you. Making America great again!
