It was the social event of the season, despite the rain. The New York Post‘s “Page Six” reports,
Huma Abedin and Alex Soros are officially husband and wife.
The newlyweds said “I do” in front of a star-studded crowd at the Soros family’s sprawling Southhampton estate over the weekend, Page Six can confirm.
I must confess that, in all my travels, I’ve never made it to the Hamptons. The closest I’ve ever come was Islip.
Huma, age 48, you will recall, is a former aide to Hillary Clinton and the former wife of disgraced former New York congressman Anthony Weiner, 60. Alex, 39, is the son of the New York-based financier George Soros, 94, and heir to the elder Soros’ political machine.
He holds degrees from NYU and U.C. Berkeley, and she graduated from The George Washington University.
Alex serves as Chair of his father’s Open Society Foundation and is himself an avid and renowned collector of Democratic politicians. The engaged couple as seen at Alex’s Manhattan home,
Yesterday’s wedding was, as mentioned, a star-studded affair. From Page Six,
Boyz II Men performed at the wedding, sources told Page Six. Guests also included Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild, we hear, while Bill and Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Vogue icon Anna Wintour were also reportedly in attendance.
A source said Edi Rama, the prime minister of Albania, also made a toast at the starry wedding.
I must say that the Rothschild invite was inspired, a nod to the classics. People magazine fills in one more name from the guest list: Hakeem Jeffries.
The food was of a quality to match the occasion,
We’re told a variety of finger foods were served, along with wagyu beef, and pea soup, and that there were “lots of special drinks” featuring champagne and tequila.
No hint as to whether the whiff of sulfur spoiled any appetites. As for the bride,
According to Vogue, the bride wore two custom wedding dresses for the two-ceremony celebration: one by Erdem and one by Givenchy, designed by Erdem Moralıoğlu and Sarah Burton, respectively.
Two ceremonies? One civil and one…I don’t want to know.
Here at Power Line, we wish the happy couple all the best!
