After over a week of Israel hammering Iranian nuclear and military installations, the United States has joined the fight.
President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that American bombers had struck three separate nuclear facilities, including the underground enrichment facility in Fordow, which had become the biggest point of contention since strikes began.

While the president didn’t confirm it, the bombings were likely done by B-2 bombers that had been positioned in Guam just hours earlier. It’s assumed that they used 30,000-pound GBU-57 bunker busters to penetrate deep into the ground and end Iran’s nuclear threat. Even if the Mullahs survive, it will now take decades for them to rebuild, given the damage that was done.

Trump had faced heavy criticism from many ostensibly on the right (though their positions rarely line up with mainline conservatism) over his threats to bomb Iran. However, he had consistently, for well over a decade, proclaimed that the Mullahs would not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
What happens next is an open question. Will the regime survive? Is this it for American involvement? I would assume so regarding the latter, although limited continued strikes are still a possibility. I still feel completely confident in saying there will be no invasion and Iraq War 2.0 here. Anyone saying that is just being dishonest about the situation. Trump deserves a lot of credit for standing by his red line and taking action here, something his predecessors refused to do. This also sends a message to America’s enemies outside of Iran that we are not to be trifled with.
