Perth school fire: Huge blaze rips through building | UK | News

A huge blaze ripped through an abandoned school in Perth, Scotland, overnight. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed its firefighters were at the scene, tackling the blaze.  The service said: “We are currently in attendance at a fire affecting a derelict building on Muirton Place in Perth.

“Members of the public no longer need to alert our Operations Control room about this fire. We have six appliances at the scene.” Police Scotland says a man has been arrested in connection with wilful fireraising as it used an update on the blaze.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Emergency services are responding to a fire at a derelict building on Dunkeld Road, Perth, which was reported around 12.25am on Sunday, 22 June, 2025.

“Dunkeld Road, Balhousie Street and Muirton Place are currently closed and a number of properties are being evacuated as a precaution.

“Residents in the nearby area are asked to keep their windows and doors closed at this time. An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with wilful fireraising and enquiries are continuing.
