Open letter to JD Vance urges US to tie trade talks to Canada’s persecution of Christians

(LifeSiteNews) — I’m writing to share with you what I believe is a highly relevant—and frankly, juicy—development in the context of the ongoing U.S.–Canada trade talks: Campagne Québec-Vie (Quebec Life Coalition) has just released an open letter and detailed report addressed to U.S. Vice President JD Vance, urging the Trump administration to tie any future trade deal to Canada’s treatment of Christians and pro-lifers.

This is no abstract moral argument. With the Carney government retreating from its digital services tax to reopen trade negotiations, and with the July 21 trade deadline fast approaching, we believe the U.S. now holds crucial leverage—and we are calling on them to use it. As Vice President Vance said at the Munich Security Conference: “We must do more than talk about democratic values. We must live them.”

The letter and report document the escalating state repression we face in Quebec and across Canada:

  • “Bubble zones” banning even silent pro-life prayer;
  • Charitable status under attack for faith-based and pro-life groups;
  • Public venues refusing to rent to Christian organizations;
  • Proposed bans on public prayer, and the enforcement of radical secularism through law.

Our message to the Trump administration is clear: no free trade without real freedom—especially freedom of religion, speech, and assembly. And our message to the Canadian government is just as clear: if you want access to American markets, stop persecuting Christians.

I invite you to read and share the full report here.

This is a moment where public attention, moral clarity, and diplomatic pressure could converge to make a real difference—not just for Canada’s faithful, but for the principle that faith, family, and life still matter in the Western world.

Thank you for your ongoing work in telling the truth.

For Life,
