We’ve been reporting on the battle over the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
One of the funniest parts of the battle has been the lame response from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). I reported last night how he fell back on the traditional Democrat gambit that everyone was going to die if the bill passed. He also posted a picture of himself on X that everyone was mocking — it was him holding a baseball bat, saying they were going to keep the “pressure” on Republicans. It sounded like a threat, but it was also ridiculous, even inspiring memes, as our sister site Twitchy observed.

Thursday Morning Minute: In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning
I guess Jeffries apparently hadn’t humiliated himself enough with that post. On Thursday morning, Jeffries tried again, ranting one last time to stall the final vote on the bill.
But he was so lacking in inspiration, at least one colleague was falling asleep behind him.

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) was falling asleep behind him. Now that’s a great ad for the Democratic Party. The guy next to her looks like he may be nodding out as well, but that’s not clear. Hakeem the Dream has at least one going off to dreamland behind him.
What was even funnier was that after journalist Matthew Foldi posted about it, they removed her and replaced her.

This is so typically Democrat — it’s all about the performance and the optics, not doing anything helpful or substantive, just Hakeem and his seventeen different hand movements. Plus, there goes Jeffries being deceptive again, claiming it ends Medicaid as we know it. Ending Medicaid for illegal aliens is not “ending Medicaid.”
But, it turns out he was having some positive results, according to Vice President JD Vance.

Vance said a GOP member of Congress was undecided, but then, when he watched Jeffries, that member was now a “firm yes.” Sounds like Jeffries is having an unintended opposite effect. Now, that’s hilarious. We should employ Jeffries like this in the future; he’ll help get all the GOP bills passed.
Jeffries also seemed to have forgotten what he said about filibusters as he tried to stall the vote.

If the filibuster is “Jim Crow,” why is Jeffries doing a “pretend” filibuster?
At this point, the Democrats should just pack it in; they’ve become parodies of themselves.
