Abortion rates soar in England

(LifeSiteNews) — Abortion rates in England and Wales are at a record high, with three in 10 pregnancies ending in the murder of the unborn child.

On July 9, the Office of National Statistics (ONS) published data tracking conceptions, births, and abortions of women in England and Wales, revealing a record number of abortions throughout the countries.

“The percentage of conceptions leading to abortion was 29.7%; this is a rise from 26.5% in 2021 and the highest proportion on record,” the report found, based on data from 2022.

Women under 16 had the highest percentage of conceptions leading to abortion at 61.0 percent. Women aged 30–34 had the lowest at 22.7 percent. The proportion of conceptions leading to abortion has generally increased across all age groups since 2015.

Birth rates among young women are alarmingly low, as younger women are more likely to delay parenthood compared with earlier generations.

A record 252,122 abortions were recorded in England and Wales in 2022, a 17-percent increase from 2021 and roughly three-tenths of all conceptions. This marks the highest number since the passage of the Abortion Act of 1967.

The abortion statistics come as many have warned that the declining birth rates seen in Western countries thanks to contraception, abortions, and feminist propaganda will have catastrophic consequences.

Tech mogul Elon Musk has consistently warned that declining birth rates present “one of the biggest risks to civilization.”

A 1992 report by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that over a span of a few decades, contraceptive use among married women went up 9 percent, leading to “a considerable fertility decline.” According to the report, the TFR in developing countries dropped from 6.1 between 1965–1970 to just 3.9 in 1985–1990.

Meanwhile, the WHO estimates that roughly 73 million babies are killed in induced abortions every year worldwide.

At the same time, some European countries are implementing incentives to encourage parents to have more children by offering tax breaks or financial incentives.

Earlier this week, new pro-family laws took effect in Hungary, granting families almost $300 in monthly tax breaks for each child.
