Congressman Salud Carbajal (D-CA) tried to bust through a law enforcement perimeter established outside an ICE raid at a prominent cannabis facility in Camarillo, California, only to be quickly surrounded and pulled back by authorities.
Now, of course, everyone’s first reaction to this will be, ‘Who, in the blue heck, is Salud Carbajal?’ And that would be your right. It was my first reaction, too.
Your second reaction, though, will most likely be, ‘Lookee here, we have another Democrat member of Congress who doesn’t think he has to listen to law enforcement.’
Video on social media shows Carbajal flashing some identification at the uniformed men standing guard, and thinking he could just slip past them.
It was a pretty brazen attempt, but it feels like this has been tried before. Like, in the “Naked Gun,” “Beverly Hills Cop, and every episode of Law & Order ever filmed. But alas, this is real life, and simply flashing your license or congressional badge at the cops doesn’t get you unfettered access to the scene of the crime(s).

Good to see somebody overstepping their bounds and being yeeted for their troubles.
As RedState readers are aware, the Carpinteria Glass House cannabis greenhouse had been raided by ICE agents on Thursday, prompting pro-illegal immigrant rioters and some Democrat officials to confront them in a tense standoff.
RedState Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar chronicled the situation on X, noting that Mexican flag-waving protesters tried to block Humvees while others berated agents with expletives and threatened them with … a leafblower.

Carbajal was one of the agitators on the scene. He ran to the Santa Barbara Independent to complain about being turned away by law enforcement, admitting he had attempted to, as the outlet describes, “break through the perimeter established by the ICE agents.”
Sounds an awful lot like insurrection.
The congressman was not pleased that authorities didn’t feel like playing his game.
“I wanted to find out what was going on,” Carbajal said. And when he informed the Special Response Team (SRT) in charge that he was a member of Congress, “no one was interested.”
“No one told me anything,” he added, “nobody wanted to talk to me.”
Seems like a good time to break out the tiny violins, fella.
“It was overkill and disproportionate,” Carbajal fumed. “They’re militarizing our streets. They’re inciting fear, chaos, and trauma.”
No worries, though, right? They’re just playing dress up after all.
Carbajal, apparently vying for the title of most reprehensible House member despite a strong field from his own party, mocked law enforcement for “having fun dressing up like they were in the military.”
He continued the vile commentary, accusing ICE agents of racially targeting illegal aliens at the weed farm.
“It’s outrageous. It angers me. It disappoints me as an American. And they’re violating the rights of U.S. citizens. If you’re brown, you’re going to have your civil rights violated,” he claimed.
Dozens of farmworkers were reportedly detained at the facility. ICE should consider hauling in the people who employed them as well.
