Passengers on board a Royal Carribean cruise ship have been left vomiting and even suffering from diarrhoea after more than 140 people fell ill during a trip to Mexico.
A total of 134 passengers, along with seven crew members, said they were feeling ill while on board The Navigator of the Seas cruise ship.
The vessel had left Los Angeles on July 4 and was on its way to Mexico.
However, according to its Cruise Mapper Itinierary it docked in Puerto Vallarta four days later before turning around and arriving back in Los Angeles on July 11.
The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention;s health chiefs are yet to determine the cause behind the outbreak.
But common symptoms of norovirus include vomiting and diarrhoea.
Others include fever, headache and body aches.
The highly contagious virus is known as the stomach flu or gastroenteritis.

While symptoms improve within one to three days, health chiefs have warned it can still be spread.
Royal Caribbean spokesman said the health and safety of passengers and crew members was the company’s top priority, USA Today reported.
Passengers reporting symptoms were isolated and the ship was given a clean.
It comes as 180 people fell ill on board Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas ship in September last year.

The outbreak occurred during a trip to Alaska.
The Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of The Seas’ first voyage was in 2002.
It was refurbished 22 years later and is known for its trips from Los Angeles to various Mexican destinations.
The ship recently left Los Angeles on July 11 and cocked in Cabo San Lucas, Mazaltan.
The vessel, which has a 3,300 people capacity, is due to return back to Los Angeles today.
It has 17 bars and more than 12 dining options for its passengers.
Of its vast features, there is a rock climbing wall, escape room, ice skating rink and a surf simulator.
There is also three pools and six whirlpools along with a riptide waterslide.
Of the 15 decks on board, nine have cabins for passengers and crew.
It cost about $S650million or approximately £483million to build.
