Epping protest LIVE: Migrant hotel on lockdown as police plan huge restrictions | UK | News

Essex Police says it has a “really robust plan” in place for the expected protests outside The Bell Hotel in Epping.

The force said its plans are “to protect the people of Epping against anyone who turns up to commit crime and violent disorder”.

One of the measures is a ban on face coverings.

Essex Police said: “If you wear one, we’ll order you to take it off. If you don’t take it off, you’ll be arrested.”

Protestors will also have to stay within designated sites outside the hotel and will have their own entry and exit routes.

“To be clear, you will not be able to get in the way of people getting on with their daily lives in Epping,” Essex Police said.

“This is a priority.”
